I bet anyone has a grandma that used to (or still does) make meatballs on Sunday lunch for the entire family. These easy and tasty meatballs will bring your memories back. I served them with some roasted potatoes, salad.. and a glass of the same beer I used for the sauce, of course!
I quitted eating meat years and years ago, that’s the reason why I won’t post many meaty recipes here. But by husband still does… And yesterday he really wanted meatballs. Now, even if I don’t eat meat, I know how to cook the tastiest meatballs (thank you grandma for teaching me). We’ve used Turkey mince, and the meatballs resulted light, tasty and high in protein. Also, they’re really moist and tender, ideal when paired with some crunchy roast potatoes.
Of course when you use a good beer in cooking, everything tastes better. We decided to use Brewdog Punk IPA. The bitterness of the beer pairs perfectly with the savoury meatballs, and gives them a unique, tangy, tropical favour.
In case you don’t know the brand, Brewdog is one of the most famous Brewery from Scotland. They started brewing quite recently (2007) and their amazing beers made them grow really quickly, they now owe bars all over the world. Punk IPA is one of their most famous beer- and one of our favourite as well. They’re also doing an amazing job with their action towards sustainability and fair wage. They now managed to become now a carbon negative brewery, meaning that drinking their beers you have a positive impact on the environment. Isn’t that amazing?!?!
P.S. You can use the same recipe to make vegetarian meatballs. Just substitute the turkey with vegetarian mince or cooked lentils.
“My mom said the two most important kitchen utensils are attached to your arms… you cannot mix up meatballs with a wooden spoon, get in there, get your fingers dirty!”
